The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu denies the assertions that Vladimir Plahotniuc controls the whole state. The issue was developed in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“It’s impossible for one person to control the whole state. We cannot say that all the prosecutors and judges are controlled. The Liberal Party is controlled by no one. Neither the ministers of the PL are controlled. I never went to Nobil Hotel to report. Filat went there to report. Those who invented the notion of captured state actually captured the Great National Assembly Square and hamper the repair works and the demonstrations of people,” stated the Liberal leader.

Ghimpu said that things in the ruling alliance go smooth and Plahotniuc helps with the organization. “Everything is fine in the alliance. Plahotniuc takes part in the meetings of the alliance’s Council and help us to work, with the organization, even if he does not have much time,” he noted.

Mihai Ghimpu said the latest revelations about the theft of the billion, made by a former employee of the National Anticorruption Center and an ex-employee of Banca Sociala, are not credible. “Why did they keep silent when I cried that money was being stolen? Why did they hide in the bush then? Why don’t they go to the Prosecutor’s Office to make statements if they were summoned? If they do not have confidence, this is another issue. But they should have obeyed the summons. I went immediately when I was summoned,” he added.

The politician denied that the criminal case against Filat was started by order of Plahotniuc. “He wrote that a sentence of 19 years was written for him at Nobil Hotel, but he got nine years when others who stole 2,000 lei got 12 years. The case of Filat has nothing to do with the theft of the billion. Filat should yet answer for the theft of the billion,” stated the Liberal leader.

Mihai Ghimpu said that after the Party of Communists came to power in 2009, the situation at Banca de Economii was good and the theft was started in 2012 by Victor Topa and Viorel Topa.
