The Acting President expressed his indignation at the fact that the Supreme Council of Magistrates canceled the holding of the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice on an interim basis immediately after the Constitutional Court ruled that Ion Muruianu was dismissed illegally. In a press briefing on April 30, Mihai Ghimpu said the Alliance for European Integration should be more active in making decisions when certain violations are committed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The fact that Muruianu took up the post before the Parliament examined the Constitutional Court's decision upset me. At the same time, the Supreme Council of Magistrates, which has nothing to to with the dismissal of Muruianu, came together and annulled the decision concerning the holding of the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice on an interim basis,” Mihai Ghimpu said, stressing that Ion Muruianu defied the Parliament.
On March 4, the government coalition discharged Ion Muruianu from the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice for misconduct. In the speech he delivered at the general assembly of judges, Muruianu named the journalists ”rabid dogs that become dangerous for the society”. The coalition's decision was challenged by the parliamentary group of the Communists Party in court. On April 27, the Constitutional Court ruled that Ion Muruianu's dismissal was unconstitutional. The second day, the Supreme Court of Justice published a communique, announcing that Ion Muruianu was reinstated in his post on April 28. The Court said the Supreme Council of Magistrates was informed about this.
