The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said he is ready to form a coalition with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and the Democratic Party (PDM), but he put forward one more condition - Ilan Shor must be arrested. The Liberal leader made such statements in the talk show “Moldova live” on Moldova 1 TV channel, IPN reports.
“I repeat that until Shor is not arrested, I will not descend the tree. How can he hold the post of mayor of Orhei after he stole hundreds of millions of lei? The votes of the people in Orhei were bought. The billion couldn’t have been stolen without the involvement of the power. Nobody can launder US$20 million without the involvement of the power in this country. In narrower circles, they say they want to make Shor President,” stated Ghimpu.
He said that he already had discussions with the leaders of the PDM and PLDM about the formation of a ruling alliance, but he is not sure that these do not discuss with the Communists too. “We met the last time last Friday. We agreed to form an alliance, but this is not a definite fact until a relevant agreement is signed. They may hold discussions with the Communists in parallel. The problem of the election of the head of state can make them form an alliance with the Party of Communists because these three parties have together the number of votes needed to choose the President,” stated the leader of the PL.
Mihai Ghimpu noted that the PL agreed to form an alliance with the PLDM and PDM in order to take the country out of the crisis. “We want to help in this difficult situation, even if we should stay away. My name is at stake. It won’t do governing further like this. I think we will first form an alliance and will then set up a commission to assess the performance of the prosecutor general, the head of the National Anticorruption Center, the governor of the National Bank and others. Those who didn’t do their job will be fired, while those who committed offenses will be held accountable,” he said.
