The Leader of the Liberal Party suggested that Prime Minister Vlad Filat had been involved in the escape of the Russian blogger Eduard Baghirov. In the program “In Profunzime” (“In Depth”) on Pro TV Chisinau channel, Mihai Ghimpu said that Baghirov’s escape is connected with the Premier’s demand to dismiss the prosecutor general and the director of the Security and Information Service, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Baghirov wouldn’t have been able to leave without the Moldovan authorities’ assistance. I guess who set him free, but cannot say because I do not have proofs,” said Mihai Ghimpu, stressing that Eduard Baghirov was put under house arrest one or two days before the Premier rendered a report in Parliament. Mihai Ghimpu said the Communists were the first to demand that the prosecutor general and the director of the SIS be discharged. Vlad Filat reiterated the same demand later. According to the Liberal leader, Eduard Baghirov did not participate in the organization of the public disorder of April 2009, but was only an ‘instrument’ in somebody’s hands. Mihai Ghimpu said he is aware of the situation in penitentiaries, but it is the Government that should deal with the issue. The Russian blogger Eduard Baghirov escaped to Russia last week. In Chisinau, he is accused of involvement in the organization of the April 7, 2009 events. Questioning will take place in Parliament over the escape.
