Mihai Ghimpu: If atmosphere in AEI had been different, PDM wouldn’t have been now discussing with PCRM

Mihai Ghimpu reiterated that the Liberal Party (PL) is ready to give the post of Head of Parliament to the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu if this will help form a center-right government alliance, Info-Prim Neo reports. During the Public Life program on Radio Moldova on December 11, Mihai Ghimpu said that he still hopes the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) will be restored. In August 2009, the AEI was formed owing to the Democratic Party, especially Marian Lupu who contributed significantly to the improvement of the party’s rating. Mihai Ghimpu said that an alliance is formed in several stages. Priority is given to the values and objectives, not the interests of the party, as well as the government mechanisms for the whole team. “The Alliance for European Integration formed in August 2009 aimed to integrate Moldova into the EU and promoted the European values,” said the leader of the PL. The Acting President admitted that there was dissension inside the AEI. According to him, if the atmosphere in the AEI had been different, the PDM wouldn’t have been now discussing with the Communists Party and the talks wouldn’t have been so difficult. “If those who created that atmosphere in the Alliance do not realize what they did, the institutionalization or any other contract signed by us will not be able to save the alliance,” Mihai Ghimpu said, adding that he is neither on Vlad Filat’s nor Marian Lupu’s side, but the efforts on the European integration path must be continued.
