Members of the Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) accuse their former chief - the leader of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu - of betraying Moldova’s European course and of planning now a new betrayal by tacitly accepting the discussions with the Communists on the formation of a new government. Contacted by IPN, the Liberal Party refused to comment on the accusations made by the PLR.
PLR chairman Ion Hadarca said the parties of the left and the right too turned into Ltds that are managed by oligarchs. “In less than a year, the alliance on which the people counted so much did nothing but discredit the European course. The leaders of the parties, the oligarchs, did nothing else but continue the internal struggles for power. The fall of two governments in less than a year shows that these parties are unable to govern responsibly,” he stated.
Tatiana Potang, deputy head of the PLR, noted that the question “Who is the traitor?” should be answered and she has only one answer to it: “Mihai Ghimpu is the traitor because he repeatedly betrayed the voters and changed his views. He named to different posts persons whose competence was questioned even by members of the party. We didn’t betray and didn’t sell ourselves. We were removed from the party because we had opposing opinions. Now Mihai Ghimpu prepares a new betrayal as this is how his inaction, when the Democratic Party started to negotiate with the Communists, can be described. Mihai Ghimpu wants the threshold for electing the President to be diminished so that he ultimately gets this post,” stated Tatiana Potang.
The Liberal Reformist Party called on society to mobilize and free the country from oligarchs and traitors.
