The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) calls on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to refrain from travelling to all the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, in the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhe, Kherson, and the Crimean Peninsula, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry says the Moldovan citizens should permanently inform themselves from safe sources, should remain cautious and be ready to promptly adjust their travel plans. It recommends maintaining contact with the embassy or the consulate general in Ukraine.

For additional information and consular assistance, the people can call the Call Center on 0 80 090 990 – free from landline from any locality of the Republic of Moldova, or on +373 22 23 20 02. The operators work from Monday through Friday, between 8am and 5pm, Moldova’s time. Outside the program with the public, one can send an email to call.center@mfa.gov.md or on the Facebook page of the Call Center and the Facebook page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

The Ministry reiterates that it does not recognize the annexation by Russia of the Ukrainian territories, including the Ukrainian Peninsula. In accordance with international law, these remain integral parts of Ukraine and are considered temporarily occupied territories. Therefore, Moldova’s embassy and consular office are extremely limited in the capacity to offer consular assistance and protection to the citizens who are in the aforementioned regions.
