The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recommends avoiding travel to the areas of Greece affected by wildfires, and the Moldovan citizens who are already in those areas, are encouraged to contact the Moldovan diplomatic mission.

At the same time, the Ministry notes that no Moldovan citizen is known to have been hurt in the wildfires and no requests for assistance have been recorded by the Moldovan diplomatic mission in Athens.

The Moldovan citizens who need help or information can call the following telephone numbers of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Athens: +30 699 793 9458, +30 697 63 08 513; or by email at atena@mfa.gov.md. Or they can contact the MFAEI Call Center: 0 80 090 990 – toll-free from a landline anywhere in Moldova or 022 23 20 02; or by email, at call.center@mfa.gov.md.

Meanwhile, Greek and foreign citizens who are in danger can call the emergency line established by the Greek authorities: +30 2131331200.

Several areas in Greece are hit by wildfires. These are the Viotia region, the Rhodope region, the island of Evia and the city of Alexandroupolis.

Being in Athens for a summit, President Maia Sandu informed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotákis that Moldova is ready to send 56 firefighters to help put out the devastating wildfires raging in Greece, as it did in the previous years.
