"The Republic of Moldova rejects any insinuations of violation of the Vienna Convention and reaffirms its commitment to respect international norms in diplomatic relations." This is the reaction of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry in the context of the summoning of the Moldovan ambassador to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow, IPN reports.

The Moldovan Foreign Ministry confirms that it has received the note verbale and states that "the Republic of Moldova consistently applies the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, including the procedure for submitting letters of accreditation".

According to the Chisinau authorities, it is the exclusive prerogative of the host state to set the date and the manner of organizing the ceremony for the presentation of letters of credentials, in accordance with diplomatic custom and the agenda of the competent institutions.

Moldova's Ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The diplomat was asked to explain why President Maia Sandu did not accept the credentials of the Russian ambassador to Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, who came to Moldova in October 2024.

The Moldovan ambassador received the text of the Vienna Convention and a note verbale, asking for an explanation of the reasons for "the violation by the Moldovan side of its provisions regarding the uniformity of the practice applied in relation to the heads of diplomatic missions and the order in which they present their credentials".
