MFA provides details about Galati road accident that claimed three lives

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that both the car and the truck involved in the accident in Romania’s Galati, which resulted in three deaths, are registered in the Republic of Moldova. Representatives of the Ministry’s Press Service told IPN that three passengers, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, died on the spot.

The driver of the truck is also a Moldovan. He was not hurt. The SMURD intervention is being completed, after which the police will make public the identity of the victims.

The authorities will provide support for the repatriation of the bodies.

The Romanian press reported that two women and a man died in the accident. The tragedy occurred on the DN 26 road, close to Foltești locality in Galati County, A truck traveling from Foltești to Oancea collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Following the violent impact, a passenger of the car was thrown onto the road and died on the spot. Two other people remained trapped inside the crushed car. The efforts to resuscitate the two victims who were taken out by firefighters failed.
