The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Kiev continues its activity and maintains permanent contact with other diplomatic missions accredited in the Ukrainian capital, the head of the public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service of the Foreign Ministry, Liliana Barbararosie, told IPN, asked in the context of the warning issued by the United States of America on a "possible major air strike" on Ukraine.
"In the context of the prior warning issued by the US Embassy, no further details have been revealed by the American partners, nor by Ukrainian state structures. The Embassy is operating in a regime of heightened attention and preventive alert, employees remain calm and continue to work without panic. The Embassy has clear rules in place for actions to be taken in case of air alerts", said Liliana Barbararosie.
Stefan Gorda, minister-counselor on political issues at the Moldovan Embassy in Ukraine, told ZIUA.md that in case of an alert, the mission will stop providing consular services and will cease all public activities. "We have pre-established shelters, in order to stay safe, in case of an air alert, we go to a safer shelter, established beforehand. The Embassy is carefully following instructions from local authorities and emergency services. We follow these recommendations to the letter, as we have been doing since February 24, 2022," Stefan Gorda told the cited source.
The diplomat added that in the 1,000 days of large-scale war, the Russian military has launched more than 2,500 drones and missiles on the Ukrainian capital. In case of any new warnings or relevant information, the embassy will inform the Moldovan Foreign Ministry and other state institutions, as well as Moldovan citizens in Ukraine.
Several countries, including Spain, Greece and the United States, announced on Wednesday the temporary closure of their diplomatic missions for security reasons amid a threat of intensified air strikes on Kiev. In official statements, the embassies advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and take shelter in safe locations.
