A parochial house will be built near the Chisinau Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” within a social project initiated by the Chisinau City Hall and the Metropolitan Church of Moldova. The necessary financial resources have not been yet identified, but will most probably be collected from donations made by the faithful and from teledonations, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Cathedral does not have annexes where the priests could change their clothes. There is no toilet even. We should create better conditions for the priests and the faithful,” said Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. Metropolitan Bishop of Moldova Vladimir said the project will help create better conditions for priests who officiate at the services held at the Metropolitan Cathedral. “We have no room where to change, conference hall, restroom, room for keeping the carpets,” he stated. The parochial house is to be built instead of the thermal station that supplies the Cathedral with heat. The construction works were to begin a year ago, but were postponed owing to a number of technical problems. The heat supplier SA Termocom promised that the station will be demolished within two weeks after the closing of the heating season so that the construction works can start. The house will have one floor and will occupy practically the same area as the Metropolitan Cathedral.
