The administration of the National Food Safety Agency of Moldova (ANSA) had a discussion with the administration of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Rosselhoznadzor within a video conference. The sides discussed the implementation of a system for tracing the products of vegetal origin that are to be exported to Russia.

ANSA director general Ion Sula has told IPN that such a traceability mechanism is now implemented in Russia and the states of the Customs Union and was also proposed to Moldova, given that it exports products of vegetal origin to Russia. Thus, Moldova is to implement the system "Mercury” that is still tested in Russia.

Ion Sula said the traceability system allows checking the products, including the place where they were made, processed and packed, how they were transported and to which economic entitiy, etc. The given system is also implemented in the EU member states and thus Moldova also intends to set up such a system at internal level, which is now being worked out.

The ANSA director general said that they also discussed the introduction by Russia of new types of sanitray veterinary certificates in the Customs Union on September 1. "We already prepared the new types of certificates and will submit them to Russia in the near future so that they are examined and recognized from September 1," he stated.

Ion Sula also said that when the new traceability system is implemented, the sanitray veterinary certificates will be completed in electronic format. "The new certificates were designed in accordance with the requirements of Rosselhoznadzor. They must contain at least four protection signs," he noted.

He assured that the new sanitary veterinary certificates will have the same prices and will be issued according to the same procedure as before the implementation of the traceability system. Thus, Russia suggests that all the countries that export products to Russia should have such a system since 2017. Until then the relevant actions are voluntary.
