Starting with March, the persons who suffer from sugar diabetes or diabetes insipidus will have direct access to insulin and vasopressin. Thus, the patients diagnosed with diabetes insipidus will no longer need to go to the National Clinical Hospital to get these medicines, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, the diabetics will go to the family doctor at the place of residence. The doctor, after coordinating the action with the joint local commission, will issue the prescription to the patient. Based on the prescription, the person will be able to take gratis the medicine from the local office of the Pharmacological Assistance Section of the district Health Center or from the family doctors’ centers.
The persons diagnosed with diabetes at an incipient stage will make an exception. These will be sent to the National Clinical Hospital only for primary examinations based on which the drug, doze and administration regime will be determined.
The Ministry of Health introduced this rule in a move to reduce morbidity and the number of persons suffering from disabilities as well as to diminish mortality and complications caused by these diseases.
