Nine of the most talented children from secondary and vocational artistic education institutions have received merit scholarships of 1,600 lei, being designated as the best students. The merit scholarships are provided within the social project “Teenage Martsishor” that was initiated by the National Opera House, Info-Prim Neo reports.
National Opera House director Valeria Seican said that these scholarships are not so large, but help the young people to assert themselves and represent a fist step towards supporting the national culture promoted by young people.
The project “Teenage Martsishor” has been implemented during March 1-9 as part of the 45th International Music Festival “Martsishor 2011”. In the period, those who wanted could make contributions for the merit scholarships in a box set up in the hall of the National Opera House. Those who won such scholarships staged exhibitions of paintings, graphic works and drawings. A part of the winners are to hold a concert in April.
“The fact that I was designated as one of the best students means greater responsibility in the future, preoccupation for what I do and what I aim to achieve,” said one of the winners Ionel Manciu, who studies violin at the National Music School ”Ciprian Porumbescu”.
The National Opera House plans to designate more scholars the next year.
