Mercury-vapor lamps on Chisinau streets to be replaced with sodium-vapor lamps

The mercury-vapor lamps on the main streets of Chisinau will be replaced with sodium-vapor lamps. The director of “Lumteh” company Nicolae Vereshko said the new lamps are brighter. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Nicolae Vereshko said that the lamps on all the 73 main arteries will be replaced. The works will be completed by the end of March. Asked how much this project will cost the municipality, the official said that the necessary sum hasn’t been determined yet. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Monday said the public lighting system should be fully rehabilitated. “The streets that go into the city must have the same lamps and must be different from the rest of the arteries,” he stated. Lamps on 24 main streets of Chisinau have been changed so far this year.
