The men who two years ago splashed acid on the face of a young woman in Rascani district of Chisinau and this died later in the hospital were sentenced to life imprisonment, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The case happened in December 2014, when the victim aged 29 returned home. When she entered the stairs of the block where she lived, she was splashed with acid on her face. As a result of the serious burns she sustained, the victim died in the hospital in several hours.
The culprits were arrested the next day. These turned out to be the girl’s ex-boyfriend, who ordered the crime because he was angry with the girl who intended to go to Dubai to work, and a friend of his, who agreed to scare the young woman this way for a sum of money.
Since the arrest and until the passing of judgment, the culprits aged 33 and 35 had been in custody.
The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
