Six men are suspected of swindle. The individuals contacted victims by phone and, posing as bank employees, managed to steal about half a million lei as a result of their illegalities, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the suspects are aged between 24 and 71 and all of them live in Chisinau. Lying that someone tried to withdraw money from the bank card, they offered the card holders to secure their cards. They asked to provide card data and the secret security code and then withdrew money from the cards.
As a result of searches at suspects’ homes, the police found and seized mobile phones, bank cards and other proofs confirming their complicity in the swindle.
Two of the suspects were arrested for 30 days, while the other four were put on the wanted list.
If they are found guilty, the men will serve four to eight years behind bars.
