Two men were fined 30,000 lei for illegally hunting two wild deer in Donduseni. The court also ordered the defendants to pay 25,000 lei to the forestry company to which damage was caused, IPN reports.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the illegal act was committed in January 2024. A 45-year-old man, being the holder of a hunting license, together with another man aged 59 who didn’t hold such a license, without having the necessary authorizations laid several traps in a forest outside Horodiște village of Donduseni district. With the help of these, they captured a male and a female deer that were about 2 years old, causing thus damage to the animal kingdom in the total amount of 25,000 lei.

Recently, the Briceni Court convicted the two men of hunting without the appropriate authorizations, with prohibited tools and methods (poaching), which caused damage totaling more than 10,000 lei.

The defendants pleaded not guilty. The sentence can be appealed to the Balti Court of Appeals.
