A memorial complex dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will be built at the rotary intersection near the bus station in Comrat town. The local municipal council authorized the construction works there, IPN reports.
According to the local press, architect Ivan Cainac, who is responsible for the project, said the billboards that are now situated at the intersection will be taken away. “We travelled to the scene. The memorial will be built near the bus terminal. The billboards there will be dismantled and the memorial complex will be erected in their place,” Ivan Cainac stated for the portal Gagauzinfo.
The concept of the memorial complex has been thought up. This will consist of a monument of the “Mother” of the people of Gagauzia. It will be 15 meters in height.
The initiative to build the memorial complex was put forward by a group of Gagauz painters, sculptors and architects. The project will cost an estimated 2 million lei.
