A Memorandum on the provision of technical assistance by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation for the Program “Realizing Migration Potential in the Republic of Moldova”, phase III, was signed by the State Chancellery’s secretary of state Adrian Băluțel and the Agency’s director of cooperation Guido Beltrani. According to the Government’s press service, the objective of the program is to improve the citizens’ living standards, IPN reports.
More exactly, Moldovans’ living standards will be improved by more inclusive, more responsible and more receptive governance and by the increased participation of migrants/diaspora in the sustainable development of the country of origin.
The program includes a number of projects, namely: “Support for Diaspora, Migration and Development Governance by strengthening the political and institutional frameworks” that is implemented by the State Chancellery through the Bureau for Diaspora Relations; “Strengthening social cohesion through inclusive participation” (STRONG), implemented by UNDP Moldova, and “Building data governance through reliable and disaggregated demographic data for central and local authorities”, implemented by UNFPA Moldova.
Secretary of state Adrian Băluțel expressed his conviction that important objectives related to migration will be achieved within the program’s phase III.
For his part, SDC director of cooperation Guido Beltrani said that remarkable results have been achieved so far. “It is important to strengthen, to institutionalize the Bureau for Diaspora Relations and to include new policy components. We intend to implement as many projects with practical aspect at the local level as possible,” stated Guido Beltrani.
UNDP Deputy Resident Representative to the Republic of Moldova Andrea Cuzyova spoke about the methods of cooperation with the local public authorities and natives’ associations that will further contribute to attracting the diaspora to local economic development projects. UNFPA Moldova Resident Representative Nigina Abaszada made reference to the development of social-educational services and the collection of demographic data, including concerning the diaspora.
The Program “Realizing Migration Potential in the Republic of Moldova”, phase III, will be implemented during June 2023 – December 2026.
