A memorandum of cooperation between the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) and the Organization of Arab Electoral Management Bodies (Arab EMBs) was signed in Chisinau within the 24th annual conference of the ACEEEO that is taking place on September 9-11, IPN reports.
Under the document, the two institutions will support each other in their efforts to build and implement electoral systems in the member states and will create a common platform to ensure the exchange of information and good practices so as to improve the electoral legislation.
“Though the Arab EMBs was constituted recently, I think it will become an important partner for other specialized institutions at regional and world levels,” said Iurie Ciocan, chairman of the Central Election Commission of Moldova and of the ACEEEO, which is chaired in rotation.
According to the signatories, the agreement will contribute to developing cooperation in the field of elections and other areas and to implementing the electoral procedures and modern technologies.
