The members of the Supervisory Board of Teleradio-Gagauzia Company will be elected according to the procedure used to elect the members of Teleradio-Moldova Company’s Supervisory Board. The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) made a relevant decision on February 12, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The BCC will announce a contest to select 18 candidates and will present them to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, which will chose nine out of them.
Also on February 12, most of the BCC members voted against a proposal to recommend the radio broadcasters to make programmes dedicated to Cantemir Dynasty, to create magazines about the life and works of Dimitrie and Anrioh Cantemir and to show documentary and feature films. The authors of the proposal stressed that under a Government Decision, 2008 will be the year of Cantemir Dynasty. The third point of the Decision says that the ministries and other local and central authorities should work out and broadcast programmes to honour this dynasty. After joking over this topic, four of the seven BCC members present at the meeting voted against the proposal.
At the same meeting, the BBC imposed the maximum fine of 5,400 lei on two radio stations, “Unda Nistreana” and “Veritas FM”, for repeatedly violating the Broadcasting Code and warned publicly a number of broadcasters.
