Neither the Civic Platform "Dignity and Truth" nor the Political Party "Platform Dignity and Truth" ever planned to stage a coup and to seize power by force, PPPDA deputy chairman Chiril Motpan and war veterans Mihai Tomachinski and Anton Gamurari stated in a news conference at IPN. These denied the assertions of war veteran Vasile Iacubov, a former PPPDA member, who on September 23 said a plan to seize power was to be put into practice at the 'peaceful' protests announced by the Platform.

Chiril Motpan said he and his colleagues were bewildered to hear Vasile Iacubov's assertions. This was somehow corrupted or convinced by those who are in power to denigrate his ex-colleagues right before the election campaign so as to spoil the image of the PPPDA leader Andrei Nastase, who runs for the office of President. "Andrei Nastase is the only candidate of whom the rulling politicians are afraid," he stated.

According to the deputy head of the PPPDA, he and his colleagues, who always were on guard to protect the country, would have never allowed violence to be used and the long-lasting peaceful protests, where the leaders of the Platform were permanently in the front rows, calling for calm, confirm this.

Lieutenant-Colonel Mihai Tomachinski, who took part in the protests mounted by the Platform, said the statements that the portest movement's leaders called on the veterans to take part in the protest are not true either. It was the opposite in fact. The veterans went to protest together with the civic movement on their own initiative. "I regret that our comrade resorted to misinformation. You practically sold your dignity of officer, Vasile," he stated.

General Anton Gamurari added that given the election campaign that is to start soon, they expect other scandalous statements to be made about so-called wrongdoings inside the PPPDA, invented by those who want to denigrate Andrei Nastase.

The three are sure that such information will yet appear in the public sphere and a goal is to distract the people's attention from the thefts and wrongdoings committed by the government.
