A number of members of the Party of Communists (PCRM) oppose the party’s decision not to take part in the October 30 presidential elections and urge the people to vote in them. In a news conference at IPN, these said that when the right combins forces, the supporters of the parties of the left can do nothing but vote for the Socialists’ candidate Igor Dodon.

PCRM member Vladimir Ianiev read a statement saying a number of members from Chisinau and from districts ascertained with regret that the Party of Communists loses ground and, when the forces of the right promote the candidates of the power, the Communists cannot remain indifferent. The non-participation in elections only favors the candidates of the power, who are Marian Lupu and Maia Sandu. No matter whether they like Igor Dodon or not, there is no alternative for the supporters of the left.

Evgheni Baziuc, who heads the Association of War and Labor Veterans of Ocnita town, said he has been a Communist for 65 years and cannot remain indifferent to these elections. He called on his party colleagues to support the forces of the left and to vote for Socialist Igor Dodon.

Anatoli Cazimir from Soldanesti said the decision not to take part in the presidential elections and to call on the people not to vote was one of the worst decisions of the PCRM as the candidates of the right are thus favored. He called on the people to take part in elections, noting that otherwise the ballots will be used to rig the vote.

Stepan Boret from Briceni called on the Communists to renounce the decision not to take part in elections and to vote for ex-Communist Igor Dodon, saying this is a good candidate.

The members of the PCRM added that their statements do not refer to the whole party as this maintains the position not to vote in the upcoming elections.
