The members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Team on Moldova, who are paying a visit to Chisinau and Tiraspol, assured that they will continue to offer the political support needed in the process of settling the Transnistrian conflict. The officials said the given dispute should be resolved by obeying the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting the Reintegration Office.
In a meeting with the members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Team on Moldova, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan, who is Moldova’s chief negotiator to the Transnistrian conflict settlement talks, said the efforts of the current Government are aimed at identifying a viable solution to the Transnistrian issue.
He noted that the executive is firmly determined to support the inhabitants of Transnistria by extending the common areas in the region and by continuously promoting the confidence building measures. He spoke about the activities of the sector working groups, the results achieved in ecology and education and the importance of fostering interaction at expert level in the areas of telecommunications and motor transport.
Gheorghe Balan also informed the delegation about the latest developments in the settlement process and about the preparations for the Bavarian conference entitled “Confidence building measures in the Transnistrian settlement process” that was scheduled for this July.
The members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Team on Moldova are paying a visit to Moldova during June 13-15, 2016. The purpose of the visit is to inform the Parliamentary Team on Moldova on recent developments in the Transnistrian settlement process, foster greater co-operation between the sides at the parliamentary level, and encourage political support for a long-term and comprehensive settlement.
