Members of the government coalition said they expected tensions before the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. The reaction comes after two persons were arrested on suspicion of involvement in activities that could affect state security and the country’s territorial integrity, IPN reports.

“I think the state institutions do their job. An investigation will be carried out and we will see how this case ends,” said Head of Parliament Igor Corman.

The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said that such actions are worrisome. “We expected tensions and attempts to destabilize the situation in this period, before the signing of the Association Agreement. Now more than ever, we must be united, mobilized and well organized,” he stated.

Today, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that t two persons were arrested on suspicion of involvement in subversive and anti-constitutional activities. Additional information will be provided after more investigative steps are taken.
