Experts of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM) came to Moldova on a working visit to assess the state of the medicines control lab of the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Agency.
Depending on the results of the assessment, the lab could be authorized to join the European Network of Official Medicines Control Laboratories (OMCL).
Agency for Medicines director general Vladislav Zara, in the meeting with the European experts, said the accreditation of the lab will enable national pharmaceutical companies to become more competitive on the European market, while the quality of drugs sold in the country will be checked swifter.
The European Network of Official Medicines Control Laboratories was created to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between such labs and to promote the development of common harmonized standards.
