Medical staff and police officers with COVID-19 will get by 16,000 lei

The public budget employees who tested positive for COVID-19 and are in the front line – doctors, medical assistants, police officers, border police officers and others – will receive by a lump sum payment of 16,000 lei, President Igor Dodon stated after the meeting of senior state officials on March 30, IPN reports.

President Dodon said a number of measures were taken during the state of emergency. For the enterprises that stopped work following the relevant decision taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations, the state by co-participation will help maintain the jobs and pay salaries by fully refunding the income tax of the private individual, the social contribution and medical contribution, which is 44-45% of the salary fund.

The official noted that for the other enterprises that stopped work fully or partially not by the decision of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, 60% of the income tax of the private individual, the social contribution and medical contribution will be refunded.

The persons who worked for at least nine months at an enterprise and lost the job should go to the employment office to get 60-80% of the salary received at the last job. For the purpose, the national Employment Fund will be increased three times. In the case of persons who worked for less than nine months or who didn’t have a stable job in the recent past and cannot benefit from the classical procedure for obtaining unemployment benefit, the state will offer financial support equal to the minimum guaranteed official salary, which is 2,775 lei.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova on March 17. As many as 263 infections with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Moldova so far. Of these, 13 persons recovered, while two died.
