People will be offered specialist consultations on non-communicable diseases in Chisinau’s Stefan cel Mare Public Garden on Sunday, from 9:00 to 12:00. The event is held to mark World Health Day on April 7, with the help of the Moldovan-Swiss project “Healthy life: reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases”, the City Hall announced.

Visitors will be offered advice from diabetes specialists and get their blood sugar levels checked, among other free of charge services.

Representatives of municipal agencies and health care institutions were trained by international experts on how to develop action plans to prevent NCDs. The workshop was conducted by Axel Hoffmann and Bernadette Peterhans, international experts in public health, with the support of the Swiss Cooperation Office (SDC), through the Moldovan-Swiss Project “Healthy Life: Reducing the Burden of Noncommunicable Diseases”.

Cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular accidents, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes, digestive diseases, neurological conditions are priority among other NCDs, and community mobilization is necessary to reduce the risk factors of these diseases.
