The representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol must renew direct contact and their work in the Permanent Conference on Political Issues within the Framework of the Negotiation Process. This incentive is included in a joint statement of the mediators and observers in the Transnistrian conflict, cited by Info-Prim Neo.
Co-mediators and observers had on Tuesday, March 20, a meeting in Vienna in “3+2” format, expressing their concern about the lack of dialogue between Moldova and Transdniestria.
The parties expressed their readiness to organise a joint meeting with the political representatives in the nearest future in the 5+2 format.
The last round of negotiations in “5+2” format took place in late February 2006. The parties in the conflict split on several issues, especially concerning the farming area belonging to peasants from Dorotcaia village, situated on the left bank of the Nistru River, but placed under the jurisdiction of Moldova.
Many a time attempts to resume talks have failed, the last one in mid-February 2007.
