The mediation center under the Chamber of Trade and Industry will begin work in autumn, when the new law on mediation takes effect, the center’s director Andrei Balan announced in a meeting with a group of mediators on July 27, IPN reports.
Andrei Balan explained the particularities of the new law on mediation, such as exemption from paying the state tax, mandatory fulfillment of the reconciliation deals in mediation, etc.
The mediators attending the meeting said they meet with resistance on the part of judges and state-owned companies and with mistrust on the part of the private sector in the mediation process, which is associated with legal proceedings. The mediators suggested additionally training judges and carrying out a broad information and awareness-raising campaign on mediation, including for state-run companies.
