The media nongovernmental organizations express their concern about the actions taken by anonymous persons who intimidate journalists and editorial staffs. The NGOs demand that the Ministry of the Interior should identify these persons and should punish them in accordance with the law, IPN reports.

In a press release, the NGOs say the director of the Journalistic Investigations Center Cornelia Cozonac received a letter by which she was intimidated and threatened with use of violence through offensive language. The sender signed as journalist Elena Băncilă. In another case, an envelope that contained different viruses was sent to the editorial offices of the paper Ziarul de Gardă and the portal Deschide.md from the address of the Independent Journalism Center. The sender signed as journalist Mariana Colun.

The signatory organizations said journalists Cornelia Cozonac și Mariana Colun filed complaints to the police, saying such personal data as their name, surname and job addresses were used by unknowns without their consent with the aim of infecting the computers in the editorial office with malicious software and/or of altering the integrity of information.

The signatory organizations are the Independent Journalism Center, the Association of Independent Press, the Electronic Press Association, the Journalistic Investigations Center, the Association of Tele-Journalists, the Committee for the Freedom of the Press, the Association of Independent Tele-Journalists, ”Acces-Info” Center and RISE Moldova.
