Media Forum 2017 to be held November 14-15
Chisinau on November 14 and 15 will host the Media Forum 2017 that will involve journalist, editors, media managers and other members of editorial staffs of Moldova, representatives of media outlets and associations, advertising agencies, academic community afferent to the professional training of journalists, experts from the country and abroad. The participants can register on www.mediaforum.md, IPN reports.
The forum is organized by the Press Council, in partnership with the Association of Independent Press, the Independent Journalism Center and the Electronic Press Association. The organizers aim to debate the main problems faced by the Moldovan journalistic community, possible solutions to these problems and for stimulating reforms in the mass media. There will be examined the implementation of the roadmap for developing the mass media in Moldova, which was worked out and supplemented in the Media Forums of 2015 and 2016.
In the opening of the Forum, speeches will be given by the EU Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko, Germany’s Ambassador Julia Monar, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and representatives of media NGOs. Later, a debate will be held on the theme “False news, manipulation of information and distrust in the mass media” that will involve national and foreign experts and officials.
On the first day, the event will also include three masterclasses conducted by foreign experts for TV, online and print media professionals, including Deutsche Welle experts Andrey Gurkov and Mirko Lorenz and the editor of a successful Polish paper Piotr Piotrowicz. Side events on fact-checking and crowdfunding for the media, with Romanian expert Ovidiu Vanghele and Israeli expert Linor Goralik, will be held in the evening.
On the second day, the participants will be able to discuss problems experienced in the professional activity of journalists at six simultaneous thematic workshops. A resolution and supplements to the roadmap for developing the mass media will be debated and adopted later and will be submitted to the Moldovan authorities, foreign embassies, European and international organizations and experts that monitor the democratic development of Moldova, other interested persons and institutions.
The Forum will be held in Romanian. The opening and closing sessions will be interpreted synchronously into Russian and English.

By November 5, 2017, those who want to take part in the event can register online by completing the form that is available at the website. The organizers will process all the forms and will notify the selected persons. The list of participants will be published five days before the start of the Forum.
