Moldova’s delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) insists that the mechanism for documenting the incidents that happen in Security Zone is inefficient. The members of the delegation said the situation has worsened as Tiraspol permanently blocks Chisinau’s requests to document these incidents, including the cases of persecution of people, the obstacles to the free movement of people, and the inappropriate and abusive behavior of military peacekeepers at posts, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Reintegration Office, in the July 24 ordinary meeting of the JCC, the Moldovan delegation proposed including two subjects in the agenda – the unauthorized extension of the infrastructure of the Transnistrian militia’s posts at the entrance to Bender town, and the non-observance by the Transnistria militia of the provisions of the Agreement of 1992, concerning the free movement of people through the Security Zone.

During the discussions, Tiraspol’s delegation repeatedly and groundlessly blocked the examination of the subjects raised by the Moldovan delegation. For their part, the representatives of Chisinau underlined the necessity of obeying the Agreement of 1992 and other commitment concerning the free movement, and the importance of immediately easing the situation in the Security Zone.

Moldova’s delegation said the incidents in the Security Zone are inappropriately covered in the weekly reports of the military observers. So, the JCC does not have the necessary information and cannot take decisions. As there was no consensus on the agenda, the meeting was adjourned until next week.
