Meat prices will remain unchanged until September

Meat prices will remain unchanged at least until September while some meat products will even cheapen by 4 or 5 lei per kg. This initiative was put forward on Monday, June 16, by the Association of Meat Importers and endorsed by meat processors and the largest retailers in the country, the Ministry of Economy and Trade (MET) said in a press release, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. At a MET meeting, meat importers as well as processors and retailers have agreed to formulate in the course of this week a mechanism of lowering prices in order to lessen the burden on the so-called socially vulnerable population, the press release reads. Thus, chicken, sausages and meat by-products are expected to cheapen by 4 to 5 lei. The meeting was attended by representatives from Carmez, Basarabia Nord, Pegas, Carmez International, Nr. 1, Fidesco, Green Hills, IMC Market, and Fourchette.
