Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, in the November 21 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, said the measures to secure crosswalks in the capital city need to be continued, IPN reports.
As many as 1,141 crosswalk accidents have occurred in Chisinau so far this year. They resulted in 50 deaths and over 1,200 people hurt.
The indistinct markings are a cause for such accidents. To solve this problem, a part of crosswalks will be marked with more visible colors to see if it works. In particular, they test a combination of white and red.
