The draft law on meal vouchers that was proposed by a group of MPs was endorsed by the Cabinet. The law aims to motivate salary earners, to increase their incomes and to cultivate healthier eating habits, IPN reports.
Under the bill, meal vouchers will be given optionally by employers to employees as an employee bonus on which no social and health insurance contributions and income taxes will be paid. Employees will be able to use these at outside canteens, shops and even restaurants, but only for food products.
The meal vouchers will be provided at the end of each month, depending on the number of workdays the next month. A salary earner will be able to use a number of meal vouchers equal to the number of worked days at the most.
A voucher this year will be worth 45 lei a day. This will be issued as a paper ticket and in electronic format.
