Not only the civil status bodies will be able to register marriages, but also other institutions that are empowered by law to register civil status documents. Among these are the rural mayor’s offices and Moldova’s embassies and consulates abroad. The Cabinet approved such a supplement to the Family Code proposed by MP Liliana Palihovici.
It was also agreed to substitute the term “citizen” from Article 6, paragraph 10 and Article 53, paragraph 6 of the Family Code with the term “person”. Thus, the given norms will cover all the persons who live in Moldova, no matter whether they have Moldovan nationality or not.
