About 80 public functionaries and mayors from Straseni and Criuleni districts were trained to access European funds in the period before and after the entry into the EU by a Romanian specialist. The training is held within the project “The Youth – the Country’s Future!” that was launched by the Ploiesti League of Bessarabian Students last November.

In a news conference at IPN, deputy chairman of the League of Bessarabian Students Daniel Adam said the training seminars are free. Expert in European investment attraction Georgiana Tanase tells the mayors and local functionaries about the steps that must be taken to obtain European grants and about the Romanian local authorities’ experience in the pre- and post-accession period. She also familiarizes them with the mistakes made at that stage.

On February 19, the Romanian expert had a meeting with about 50 mayors and functionaries from Straseni district. The representative of the Ploiesti public administration Alina Cozorez said there were presented a number of projects implemented in the area of village infrastructure development in Romania. These projects hold increased interest for the Moldovan mayors. Most of the mayors asked for information about the possibility of obtaining European funds for improving the quality of life in villages in the process of joining the EU.

The project will reach all the Moldovan districts. The mayors and functionaries who want to take part in the training seminars can seek support from the Ploiesti League of Bessarabian Students.
