Mayoralty promises to finish the reconstruction of the „Nasterea Domnului” Cathedral soon

The painting works of the „Nasterea Domnului” Cathedral of the capital might be finished till the orthodox holiday Ascension. According to the interim head of the Construction Department (DCC) Tudor Gnaciuc, these are the last works operated by the municipality for reconstructing the Cathedral. About 1,3 million lei are needed for painting the cathedral. Since January 2006, when the budget for 2006 was approved, municipal councilors were against allocation of 1 million lei for making some works at the Cathedral. Moreover, the Commission for budget, economy, finance and local public patrimony of Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) proposed recently to exclude the amount of 1,3 million lei needed for painting works of the Cathedral, included in Chisinau’s Social-Economic Development Program 2006, which is to be approved by CMC. The reconstruction and repairing works of the “Nasterea Domnului” Cathedral started in ‘90.
