Mayor sentenced to 7 years for passive corrupting and influence peddling

The mayor of Stefanesti village has been found guilty by the Stefan-Voda district Court for passive corrupting by extorting money and influence peddling, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the press service of the General Prosecutor's office.
The woman has been sentenced to 7 years in jail, being deprived of the right to occupy public offices for 3 years, being fined 30,000 lei.
The prosecutors accused the mayor that, from May 29 to June 2, 2008, under the pretext of easing the purchase of a building, she extorted $700 from a customer. She was accused that, having influence on a evaluator of the Chamber of Commerce and Trade, she sent him $200 to hurry up his services consisting in assessing the price of a public bath in Stefanesti village and setting the price of the building.
The Court's writ can be sued in higher courts.
