Mayor promises to get rid of mosquitoes in Chisinau

Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca of Chisinau has promised people to get them rid of mosquitoes in recreational spaces as a joint Moldovan-Romanian company providing such services offered a demonstration yesterday, August 4, in the La Izvor Park, spraying the area with a special chemical solution, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We received an offer to test this method, which used in other countries as well, and decided to accept it. If it proves efficient, we’ll apply it in all the recreational zones of the city”, declared the Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. Constantin Daru, owner of the company who came with the offer, says mosquitoes must be sprayed every two weeks. Several persons who were resting in the La Izvor Park were upset they hadn’t been announced in time about the experiment. “People come here to relax, not to inhale poison. This could be done at night. Mosquitoes don’t really annoy me anyway”, said a man. A spraying implement costs about €40,000 and the city needs 5 such devices.
