The mayor of Tiraspol Oleg Dovgopol was dismissed by a so-called decree issued by the leader of the Transnistrian administration Vadim Krasnoselsky. Ilona Tyuryaeva was appointed to the position instead of Dovgopol, IPN reports.

The dismissal of Oleg Dovgopol comes after he was allegedly detained at the end of last week. The Transnistria administration did not inform about this. Sources in Tiraspol told IPN that Oleg Dovgopol was detained as a result of disagreements he reportedly had with Vadim Krasnoselsky. Dovgopol was set free the next day and on Monday the Transnistrian administration issued a press release informing about an online meeting that supposedly involved the mayor.

Since 2020, Ilona Tyuryaeva has formed part of the so-called supreme soviet of the region.
