The mayor of Măcăreşti village of Ungheni district was placed under arrest for 30 days. He is accused of passive corruption, IPN reports.
The mayor and the technical official in charge of the works to supply drinking water to the residents of the community were arrested at the end of March. The Prosecutor General’s Office said the two asked 410,000 lei from the manager of a company responsible for building the local water pipe for signing the works execution and final authorization reports.
The technical official admitted his guilt and is cooperating with the prosecutors. Therefore, he is investigated outside remand, but was banned from leaving the country.
