Mayor of Chisinau sued for hiding public information

Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca was sued for not making public the salaries of the municipal public servants. Several Christian-Democrat jurists handed over the copy of the summons to the mayor at the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. The jurists invoked article 71/1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, concerning the penalization of persons holding responsible positions for hiding public information. The fine varies between 40 and 50 conventional units (800 – 1,000 lei). Lawyer Igor Turcanu said the Association of Christian-Democrat Jurists seeks damages of 1 leu from Dorin Chirtoaca. For his part, the mayor reminded the Christian-Democrats of the financial resources spent on the salaries of the servants. He said the subdivision heads receive salaries of 2,000-3,000 lei, while the beginning servants – 1,000 lei. Chirtoaca said the Christian-Democrat jurists' action represented the start of the electoral campaign.
