Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca set out the priorities for the period that remained until the end of his term in office - 2015. Among these are to ensure European standards in all the areas of activity and to attract investments, IPN reports.
The rehabilitation of the historical center of Chisinau is another priority. An underground parking garage will be built under the Great National Assembly Square so as to fluidize traffic in downtown Chisinau. The local road fund will be increased to 300 million lei yearly. Twenty trolleybuses will be assembled at the Chisinau Electric Transport Company by this yearned. The public transport rehabilitation program will be continued until all the old trolleybuses and buses are replaced.
In order to reduce crowdedness in the central part of the city, some of the markets will be relocated and street trading will be combated. There will be designed a road connection between Telecentru quarter and Buiucani district and examined the necessity of bundling a railroad connection between the airport and the city’s center. There will be constructed new quarters and used the plots around the city so as to economically and residentially develop the municipality.
Reforms will be further implemented so as to modernize the public utilities SA Apa Canal and SA Termocom, according to feasibility studies.
The mayor enumerated the priorities when presenting the progress report two years after taking office the second time, on June 18.
