Municipal bus routes No. 14 and No. 15, which were launched last year, will not be closed. This subject wasn’t even discussed, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said following local reports. “I urge the residents of Codru not to pay attention to the rumors spread through the suburb. I understood that particular persons from the Codru mayor’s office collect signatures from people and lie to them about the closure of the routes. Don’t believe them,” noted the mayor general, being quoted by IPN.
The two bus routes were opened at the request of initiative groups, which included residents of this suburban settlement. The municipal services set up the necessary infrastructure and provided transport units.
“We received letters from people living on Schinoasa Deal Street, who inform about various speculations about the removal of bus No. 15 and restoration of minibuses. At the same time, passengers claim that “the buses are much more comfortable, spacious, with attentive drivers” and ask us not to remove them. Don’t believe the imposters. It’s a gross lie. The Chisinau City Hall doesn’t close any bus routes. Get informed from the first source, from the official pages of the Chisinau City Hall,” urged Ion Ceban.
The inhabitants of Codru are served by three municipal bus routes: No. 9, No. 14 and No. 15.
Annually, the Chisinau City Hall subsidizes urban and suburban municipal public transport services with about one billion lei. The Urban Bus Company operates 33 routes, of which 26 are suburban routes. During 2019-2023, the Chisinau City Hall renewed, opened, increased and extended bus routes to and from the suburban localities. This was possible thanks to the purchase of 184 buses. Together with the trolleybuses, over 300 units of transport were bought during the last four years.
