Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca sued

The Association for the Protection of Animals without Shelter “Alga” announced in a news conference on May 5 that they sued the Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We have data and shocking videos of the massacre of animals, especially dogs, allowed by the Chisinau administration,” said the Association's lawyer Ion Dron. “We demand that the Chisinau Municipal Council present the animal sterilization schedule and respond to the invitation to dialogue made by the civil society,” the lawyer said, stressing the civil society proposed a protocol of cooperation with the local authorities aimed at solving the problems concerning the protection of animals in Chisinau. Members of the Association “Alga” say both the local community and different organizations from outside are ready to finance animal sterilization programs, but the City Hall refuses such cooperation for inexplicable reasons. Ion Dron said they filed a lawsuit against the mayor to the Court of Appeals, adding this is only a first step towards making the Chisinau administration to fulfill its obligations.
