Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca requested the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) to ban the setting up of new kiosks in the capital city. He argued that this type of trade is inappropriate for Chisinau and that the kiosks make the streets look ugly, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It is regrettable that there are not enough workplaces, but the state and the municipal administration should adopt a more suitable approach in the current situation. We will ask the Municipal Council to stop this kind of trade that is inappropriate for the municipality. It’s senseless saying that we witness extraordinary economic development, but suggesting taking the kiosks down. However, it’s not right to encourage this phenomenon,” said the mayor. Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the head of the Trade, Public Food and Service Provision Division Vladimir Nirca to present a report on the number of kiosks and their position. According to Vladimir Nirca, there are over 4,700 kiosks along the streets of Chisinau. About 1,800 of them are situated in Centru district.
